Description
Recorded as a follow up to his debut album “Color The New World” in 1999, Diesel Cafe was written in Spain and Hollywood, CA. An avid writer of literary fiction, “Storyville” was Scharer’s tribute to Joseph Campbell’s literary “Power of Myth”, hence the lyrics “hero with a thousand faces”. The four-part harmonies on tracks like “What Are You Thinkin’?, “Tossing and Turning” and “Storyville” were influenced by Crosby Stills Nash and Young. “Gold” was named “Best Vocal Performance” by the Creative Loafing Magazine Songwriting Awards in Atlanta, GA where Scharer lived during the making of his debut album, along with best local new artist. Scharer wrote, produced, engineered and performed all the instruments and vocals on the album which remains unreleased as of 2018. Radio singles such as Strychnine, Naked Blade, Better Be Something and Gold are tee’d up for distribution Q1 of 2019.
