Description
The “Basement Tapes” album was compiled and included here to showcase producer Scharer’s very early songwriting circa 1990. They were never recorded for release as a recording artist but written to develop the craft and for other artists. These songs remain unreleased, and were specifically written for artists like Paula Abdul, Howard Jones and other up and coming artists at the time. Scharer’s early influences were artists like Prince, Peter Gabriel, Howard Jones, and The Police. Scharer performed two of the songs for the 1986 classic Motion Picture, “Welcome to 18” with Courtney Thorne-Smith and Mariska Hargitay.
